Storage: Store in a cool dry place. Store in an air-tight sealed container that is properly labeled. You may use plastic or stainless steel containers. Do not use tin, zinc, or aluminum. Lye reacts with these metals so they are not safe to use.
Handling: Handle with care and use proper safety gear/equipment. 
Warning: Sodium hydroxide is very corrosive. It can cause irritation to the eyes, skin, and mucous membrane; an allergic reaction; eye and skin burns; and temporary loss of hair.
